When it comes to movie nights, big sports games, slumber parties, and more, ordering in pizza is always the way to go. And when you’re talking pizza, is there any better option than a Dominos?
There’s something about that dusted crust, scrumptious sauce, gooey cheese, and a plethora of toppings that gets us each and every time. It’s seriously addictive.
But with all that choice, all those sides, and who can forget about the dominos cookies, it’s easy to order in a feast that you can’t quite finish.
And sure, you can dunk that cold pizza straight into their classic garlic and herb dip, but it’s just not quite as good as when the pizza is crispy and warm and the cheese is all ooey, gooey, and stretchy.
So, if you want to reheat last night’s delicious pizza without compromising the taste or texture, keep reading to learn all the tricks of the dominos-reheating trade!
Reheating Dominos Pizza
There are a couple of different options when it comes to reheating your pizza. You’ll want to choose your method carefully as each will have its own impact on the food’s taste and texture.
Let’s take a look at a brief overview now.
- Oven Preheat Method – creates a warm and melty slice of pizza but does not achieve crispiness. Takes around 10 minutes and is suitable for multiple slices.
- Oven Crispy Method – creates a hot and crispy slice of pizza. Takes around 20 minutes and is suitable for multiple slices.
- Skillet/Stovetop Method – creates hot and soft pizza but does not achieve crispiness. Quick method more suited to one slice at a time.
- Microwave Method – creates a hot slice of pizza with soft cheese and a hard crust (see more about microwaving pizza here). This is the least ideal method. Quick method more suited to one slice at a time.
1. Oven – The Preheat Method
Safety Notice – please always remove the pizza from the box before cooking in the oven. Leaving cardboard in the oven is likely to cause a fire.
For this option, you’ll actually be popping your pizza into the oven before it gets super hot. This helps the heat distribute evenly and ensures your pizza comes out delicious.
Placing it into an already hot oven is a good way to overcook or burn your pizza – something we’re trying to avoid.
- Baking Sheet – Place your slices of pizza onto a baking sheet that has been covered by foil.
- Center – Ensure that the oven rack is in the center of the oven to encourage even heat distribution.
- Preheat – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and then place your pizza in the oven immediately.
- Remove – Once the oven reaches the preheat temperature, you can take your pizza out of the oven and enjoy.
2. Oven – The Crispy Method
Safety Notice – please always remove the pizza from the box before cooking in the oven. Leaving cardboard in the oven is likely to cause a fire.
If you have a little extra time or you prefer your pizza to have that crispier texture, then you’ll want to opt for this oven method instead.
- Preheat – Preheat the oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit ensuring that the oven rack is in the center of the oven.
- Place – Pop your pizza onto a baking sheet that is covered in foil. Once the oven has preheated you can then place the baking sheet onto the oven rack.
- Wait – Allow your pizza to cook for around 25 minutes. You can adjust the time accordingly to your desired level of crispiness.
- Remove – Once the pizza is hot and crispy, remove from the oven and enjoy.
Some Oven Tips
- Not-Crispy Crust – If you don’t want your crusts to crisp up too much in the oven then you can always cover them with aluminum foil. This way the crusts still get hot but they won’t overcook or overcrisp.
- Super Hot Not-Crispy – If you want your pizza to be super hot but you don’t want it to get super crispy, then all you need to do is place a bowl of water (use an oven-safe bowl) next to the baking sheet. The steam will make the pizza hot and soft without making it soggy.
3. Skillet/Stovetop Method
Using a skillet on the stove is another great option for reheating pizza that really doesn’t take all that long at all. This is a nice quick and easy option if you’re only reheating a couple of slices.
- Heat The Skillet – Heat up a nonstick skillet on the stove using low heat. Ensure that there’s enough space on the pan for the slices of pizza and that you have a lid or plate big enough to cover them.
- Pizza Placing – Place your pizza on the skillet and cover it with the lid. This will trap the moisture from the pizza ensuring it heats up nice and quickly.
- Cook & Check – Cook the pizza for around 5 minutes or until your desired level of cooked. Be sure to check on it every couple of minutes to ensure that it doesn’t burn.
- Remove – When happy with the pizza remove from the skillet and enjoy.
Please Note – Due to the thickness of Dominos pizza this method will not make the pizza piping hot, though it will be warm.
4. Microwave Method
Please Note – This method is not recommended. Often it can create hard crusts and a soggy base.
- Adjust Power – Adjust the power level of the microwave to around 40% to help heat the pizza more evenly.
- Half-Full Glass Of Water – Place a half full glass of water (in microwave safe dish) into the microwave to help retain moisture along with 1-2 slices of pizza.
- Heat – Heat the pizza for around 20-30 seconds at a time until desired temperature.
- Remove – Once hot enough, remove and enjoy.
Final Thoughts
Dominos Pizza is absolutely delicious, so if you have left overs feel free to reheat them and enjoy that scrumptious meal all over again.
As long as you follow the directions above, you should have yet again another little slice of heaven.
